Equality
The problems that women encounter in every day life are greater for those who did not grow up in India. Women who have left their families and home environment can feel lonely and isolated when they alone.
The AL-WAYS provides a place where language and religion is not a barrier and where they (women) can observe the customs of their faith and culture with out embarrassment or restriction.

The Muslim community in India includes many people on low incomes, living in over crowded conditions. We work to help families break out of the poverty cycle and aspire to a better quality of life.

• Women, with improved language skills and greater confidence, are better able to support their children at school and encourage them to continue into further and higher education.
• Classes leading towards professional and vocational qualifications enable women to find work and increase the family income.

THE functions association will work it exclusively with women. Over time, it has become apparent that when women benefit, the whole community benefit. Likewise, provision for other groups in the community can have a positive effect on women's lives.

Making our voices heard
We obtain many requests throughout the country to represent the Muslim community nationally as well as locally. These have increased in the wake of the poverty but unfortunately we do not have sufficient staff & funds to able to comply with all requests. Whenever we can contribute to the on-going debates, as we view this as one way of increasing understanding of our faith and culture and building tolerance and respect between communities.
The Domestic Violence Forum will be one body we will work to make in our country and fearless, It will consist of representatives from the police, social services and women's from India.

Our Association will be able to offer the opportunity to poor family issues raised at meetings and we have forged beneficial links with specialist agencies that can help women.

IN July 11 Question Time India (BBC) programme, some one from the audience asked, ¢®¡Æshould India not attack Pakistan the way USA did Iraq?¢®¡¾ My reply to him is that neither India is USA nor Pakistan, Iraq.

Another gentleman remarked, ¢®¡Æwe have had enough of talks, it is time we gave a strong rap to Pakistan¢®¡¾. Please ask him to contact more knowledgeable military as well as political leaders in India as to why they could not do it with the million-strong soldiers that they had amassed at the borders for nearly a year and Messrs Vajpayee and Fernandes had to eat the dust after threatening to attack Pakistan almost every other day?

Lastly, I would request the compere of the programme to edit such nonsensical remarks from the programme as these breed acrimony instead of promoting harmony between the two nations which is the need of the hour.
